JEDDAH, 18 May 2008 — For the second year in a row, Al Shifa Honey unleashes its second annual basketball championship here on May 21.
The event, which is designed for kids between the ages of 8 to 12 years, will include 4 teams, each of 7 players. These teams will compete to win a number of prizes. Al Shifa Honey will give away. Referees and spectators will also receive prizes.
“We are pleased to sponsor the Al Shifa Honey Basketball Tournament for a second year in a row. The remarkable success of the tournament last year and the obvious interest and participation of many teams encouraged us to continue sponsoring this event for the second year,” Samir Kurdi, vice president of Al Sunbulah Group, told the media yesterday.
“Basketball is very popular among youngsters because of the physical benefits, as well as the possibility of practicing it in small areas that do not require expensive equipment especially inside school’s courtyard,” he added.
He emphasized that his company was eager to be in touch with children and young people and encourage them to practice their favorite sports.
