ISLAMABAD, 6 June 2008 — Pakistani Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani will pay a three-day official visit to Saudi Arabia beginning today. Foreign Ministry spokesman Muhammad Sadiq said Gilani would meet with Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah during his visit. Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, who will pay a one-day visit to Kabul and later join the prime minister in the Kingdom, told the National Assembly that the Pakistani ministers also planned a meeting with Minister for Petroleum and Mineral Resources Ali Al-Naimi to discuss the global hike in price of petroleum products.
Terror Alert
MUMBAI, 6 June 2008 — The Maharashtra government has sounded an alert in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Thane after intelligence reports from the Assam state police said a group of terrorists owing allegiance to Harkat-ul-Jihad Al-Islami (HUJI), an extremist group from Bangladesh, had reached Mumbai with the intention of setting off bombs. Police are now hunting for the alleged terrorists. Police have set up checkpoints at several crossroads and have beefed up security in the cities. Several people were briefly detained and questioned, a police source said.
