KOZHIKODE: Emirates’ first flight, EK 562, touched down to a warm welcome at Calicut International Airport here on Tuesday evening. Emirates will operate six flights a week to this northern Kerala city, a key commercial and tourist gateway. This is the Emirates’ third gateway in Kerala and its tenth in India. The new flight advances the airline’s India presence to 125 flights per week — the highest frequency operated by a foreign carrier in India, the Dubai-based airline said in a statement here. To boost inbound traffic into Kozhikode, Emirates frequent-flyer program ‘Skywards’ is allowing all members to redeem 50 percent less Skywards Miles than normally required to travel to and from Kozhikode to select cities in Middle East, Far East, Africa and Europe. This exclusive offer is valid for bookings done online, for travel till Sept. 30.
