Saudi named juror for car awards

DUBAI: Bakur Azher, one of the prominent automotive magazine publishers in the Middle East, has been invited to become a juror for the 2009 World Car of the Year Awards.

Bakur has been in the publishing news for over 10 years and is a graduate of the University of Oregon. His passion for cars led him to establish Saudi Auto magazine in 1991. Since then the magazine has grown rapidly in readership to be one of the leading automotive magazines in the Middle East. Having traveled all over the globe, testing new cars for both international and regional market, Bakur has established himself as one of the most respected journalists in the automotive industry. His publishing house also boasts several other leading lifestyle titles under his name, which are equally recognized in the fashion and lifestyle industry.

World Car of the Year (WCOTY) is a program initiated by, organized by and conducted by automotive journalists from all over the world. The award is administered by a non-profit corporation, under the guidance of a steering committee of distinguished automotive journalists from Asia, Europe, and North America.

The WCOTY award is one of the most recognized awards in the world of motoring. Now in its 5th successful year, these awards have been established around the world for its excellence, credibility & integrity.

The WCOTY awards will take place in April 2009.
