JEDDAH: Plainclothes policemen in Jeddah arrested two men who cheated a Riyadh businessman out of SR2.5 million. The two men stole the money after convincing the businessman that they possessed magical skills to double currency and that he should not risk losing his money in investments.
The men contacted the businessman and made an appointment to meet him in one of Riyadh’s posh hotels a few days later. On the day of the appointed meeting, one of the con men met the businessman who came with a suitcase full of money. The man claimed that his boss was busy meeting other clients and convinced the businessman to leave the suitcase with him and come back two days later to claim his SR5 million.
When the men failed to contact him two days later, the businessman realized that he had been duped. The man then contacted police and lodged a complaint.
Investigations revealed that the two men had left Riyadh and gone to Jeddah. Police in Jeddah launched a manhunt and managed to find the two men in a south Jeddah neighborhood.
Official spokesman of Jeddah police, Col. Misfar Al-Juaid, said the men are being questioned.
