Lover nabbed over woman’s murder

MAKKAH: The suspected killer of a young Saudi woman was arrested in Makkah within 24 hours of committing the crime early Saturday morning.

Maj. Zaki bin Salim Al-Rihaili, acting spokesman for the Makkah police, said the woman and her killer, who are both in their early 20s, were in a relationship and that the man beat the woman to death after differences arose between them.

He added that after murdering the woman, the man put her body into his car and dumped her at an empty courtyard used as a parking lot on Al-Mansour Street.

The woman was fully clothed in her abaya and head scarf. Her handbag was also dangling from her shoulders. Police said she was beaten to death and that there were traces of whipping to her back and buttocks.

The police said the father of the victim was being questioned to obtain more details about the crime.
