Assalamu’alaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh
On this auspicious occasion of the 51st anniversary of Malaysia’s independence, it gives me great pleasure to join all Malaysians in the Western Province in sharing our joy and happiness with our friends in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
May I take this opportunity to express our heartfelt gratitude and highest appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah, the government and the people of the Kingdom for the warm hospitality and support extended to me and my colleagues at the Consulate General of Malaysia in Jeddah, without which, we would not be able to perform our duties successfully in this beautiful city of Jeddah and throughout the western region of the Kingdom.
Malaysia and Saudi Arabia not only share strong historical and religious ties but also enjoy excellent cooperation in numerous fields. Every year, a large number of Malaysians perform Umrah and Haj and visit the holy sites in Makkah and Madinah. We are very grateful for the hospitality and enormous efforts by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Saudi authorities to ensure a safe and successful pilgrimage.
Our long-standing ties in economy, trade and investment, tourism and education are good but there is much room for further enhancement. I am very optimistic of the potential both Malaysia and the Kingdom could explore together to expand and diversify trade and investment. The Malaysian Trade Agency (Matrade), Tourism Malaysia and Malaysian Education Office have offices in Jeddah, under the Consulate General and are always ready to be of service to our Saudi friends.
A number of Malaysian professionals are presently working in the Kingdom, including in the Western Province. I am proud to note that they have contributed positively to the development of the country. I would like to urge them to further enhance their performance and capabilities to continue upholding Malaysia’s image in this country. On behalf of Malaysians residing in the Western Province, I would also like to thank the government and the people of Saudi Arabia for the generous hospitality and friendship extended to us.
We pray to Allah Subhanallahi Wataala for the warm and brotherly relations between Malaysia and the Kingdom to continue to flourish for the mutual benefit of our two countries.
To all Malaysians in the western region and all over the Kingdom, I wish to convey my congratulations and very best wishes on this momentous occasion. Let us strengthen our unity and renew our resolve to work together for Malaysia to be a developed nation by 2020. Selamat Merdeka!
“Unity, the core to success.”
Wabillahi Taufik Walhidayah Wassalamu’alaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh.
