Malaysia and Saudi Arabia are enjoying good bilateral trade relationship since 1991, according to Amran Yem, trade commissioner of Malaysia in Saudi Arabia.
The trade volume crossed 4.08 billion ringgits during January-May 2008, up 9.7 percent from RM3.72 billion during the same period last year, with Saudi Arabia having the edge.
Malaysian exports during the above-mentioned period amounted to RM1.2 billion, up 15.06 percent from RM1.012 billion during the same period in 2007, while its imports touched RM2.9 billion, up 7.69 percent from RM2.7 billion.
In 2007, the total trade amounted to RM9.2 billion, with export amounting to RM6.8 billion and import amounting to RM2.4 billion.
Its exports products included manufactured goods, RM2.2 billion; agricultural products, RM1.46 million; mining goods, RM13.7 million; and others, RM67.5 million. Imports totaled RM6.8 billion. These included manufactured goods, RM921 million; agricultural products, RM17 million; mining goods, RM5.8 billion; and others, RM6.5 million.
