RIYADH: A Chinese family car dubbed “Peri” was unveiled at the Al-Rassam Auto show room in Riyadh on Saturday.
“The sedan is being introduced in the Kingdom simultaneously in Jeddah, Dammam and Riyadh, considering the growing demand for small family cars,” Saif Al-Rassam, vice president of Al-Rassam Group, told newsmen here. He added that the sedan was available in five colors and is ideal for small families and attractive enough for Saudi youths. He pointed out that the car is designed for people who are conscious of quality, fuel efficiency and beauty of the vehicle. It is easy to manage, maintain and get value for your money,” he stressed.
Last year, China, the third largest manufacturer in the world, produced 9 million cars and this year the production increased by a million. In the Kingdom, he said around 5,000 Chinese cars were sold last year.
Mohammed Wasim, sales engineer of Al-Rassam motor said that Peri has an edge over similar models produced by Asian countries by way of its competitive price. The cost ranges from SR28,000 to SR35,000 depending on the options offered to buyers.” We are confident that we can sell more than 800 cars during the first year. We have already got definite bookings for this model,” Wasim said.
Detailing the salient features of the car, he said, Peri is manufactured by Great Wall, the largest car producer in China which is well known for special options in automobiles. Peri is equipped with a four cylinder engine with 1300 cc.
