JEDDAH: Jeddah police arrested two Africans who took away the iqama and wallet of an Egyptian expatriate worker and asked him to pay SR1,500 for returning his valuables, press reports said. The Egyptian informed Kandara police about the incident soon after he lost his valuables. Police then worked out a plan to catch the criminals and asked the Egyptian to negotiate with the thieves and agree to their conditions. The thieves told the Egyptian to reach at a particular place to receive his iqama and other valuables. Police in plain clothes arrested the two thieves while they were handing over the iqama to the Egyptian. Col. Musfir Al-Joaid, Kandara police chief praised the Egyptian for his courage and urged the public to inform police about such incidents in order to get hold of criminals engaging in such activities.
