GAZA CITY: A delegation from the Fatah movement left the Gaza Strip yesterday for Cairo to meet with Egyptian officials to prepare ground for the resumption of inter-Palestinian dialogue.

In a statement to the press, the Fatah movement said that two members of the delegation — Zakariya Al-Agha, a member of Fatah’s Central Committee, and Ibrahim Abu Al-Naja, a member of Fatah’s Revolutionary Council — left the enclave early yesterday through the Erez border crossing. The two will stop over in Jordan before traveling to Egypt today.

Nabil Shaath, the member of Fatah’s Central Committee who heads the delegation, and Abdullah Abu Samhadenh, Dier Al-Balah governor and a senior Fatah member, are already in Egypt and join the delegation tomorrow for talks with Egyptian officials, the statement said.

Osama Al-Fara, Khan Younis governor, was named by Fatah as a member of the delegation earlier this month but is still detained along with other Fatah members in a Hamas jail.

Al-Fara was detained during a crackdown on Fatah activists after a mysterious July 25 explosion in Gaza City killed five Hamas members and an eight-year-old girl. Hamas blamed Fatah for the blast and began rounding up Fatah activists.
