Child falls into construction pit, dies

MADINAH: The Civil Defense Department in Yanbu retrieved the body of a child that had fallen in a pit dug for a mosque project in Al-Semairi neighborhood. Teams from the Fire Department along with divers went to the location. The hole was 10 meters deep and 15 meters wide with water two meters deep.

The eight-year-old child’s body was recovered from the hole. Police are investigating the accident and will determine whether the fault was on the contracting company that failed to secure the project area or it was the child playing and climbing to the construction site. The project is an expansion project to the Al-Butheli Mosque.
