RIYADH: World renowned experts in specifications and quality standards from the United States, Europe and Japan are slated to address representatives from local companies at an event, organized by the Saudi Arabian Standards Organization (SASO), to be held in the capital on Oct. 21.
“The purpose of the forum is to tell local companies to develop the best practices in the quality standards sector to increase productivity and enhance consumer confidence,” Nabil Amin Mulla, director general of SASO, said in a statement yesterday.
He added that the foreign speakers at the forum will introduce the latest advances in the field and tell the local companies that how best they successfully implement their projects maintaining quality, international specifications and to customer satisfaction. With their participation, he said, representatives from local companies could enrich their projects using the latest technology in quality control.
Stressing the importance of maintaining high quality in Saudi products, Mullah said that it would also boost the local exports.
Four local companies in the Kingdom that have won the King Abdulaziz Award for Quality Assurance will make presentations about their products and services at the forum.
Last year, Mullah said there were 102 applicants for the award and only 22 companies fulfilled the requirements of the panel of judges. Sixteen applicants came up for final consideration.
The award evaluation committee comprised relevant experts from United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Jordan and the Kingdom.
