RAMALLAH: The Hamas movement said yesterday that Palestinian Authority (PA) security forces arrested the son of a Hamas lawmaker in the West Bank city of Tulkarm.
Hamas said in a press statement that the security forces stormed the house of Palestine Legislative Council member Fathi Al-Qar'awi, wrecked the interior of the house, interrogated members of his family, and seized his son, Hamzah. Fathi Al-Qar’awi, a member of Hamas’ “Change and Reform” parliamentary bloc is currently jailed in Israel.
The movement condemned what it said was “an ongoing policy of harassment of the families of jailed Hamas lawmakers.”
Hamas held Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas “completely responsible” for these attacks and arrests and called on Palestinian national factions and humanitarian organizations to bring arbitrary detentions to an end.
