RIYADH: Representatives of 12 Dutch universities and higher education institutions, accompanying the Netherlands Minister of Economic Affairs Maria van der Hoeven, will meet with the members of Ministry of Higher Education and visit various Saudi universities in Riyadh today.
At the educational seminar in the Eastern Province, Hoeven will deliver a keynote speech about applied sciences in the Netherlands, emphasizing on the quality and content of the different courses, delivered by vocational institutes and universities of applied sciences in particular.
The Dutch education system has a strong international orientation, a Dutch Embassy spokesman said, adding that Dutch higher education institutions are offering a full range of English-language programs.
An increasing number of foreign students are studying in the Netherlands and many research universities have an international student body and faculty.
The delegation, which includes members of the Netherlands Organization for International Cooperation in Higher Education, is visiting the Kingdom to explore the possibilities to develop relations with Saudi universities and colleges. Topics of particular interest are the establishment of local education branches in Saudi Arabia and bilateral educational cooperation, as well as cooperation in research.
