RIYADH: SAIB (Saudi Investment Bank) is slowly but surely turning its fortunes around as it clinched a Team of the Week and Bowler of the Week double during the 13th session in the Interbank Tenpin Bowling League 2008 Conference at the Riyadh InterContinental Hotel Bowling Center here.

Encouraged by a big win over league leader BSF that ended its slump the previous week, SAIB came through with the best figures of 360 points and total pinfalls of 3,633 against the tournament’s favorite whipping team, SABB Visa/MasterCard. As usual, it was another zero point off total pinfalls of 3,178 for Visa/MasterCard.

Fred Cadavero made SAIB’s breakthrough Team of the Week victory all the sweeter when he rolled the high series of 798 to become Bowler of the Week on games of 157, 186, 212, 159 and 84 handicap. Also, SAIB moved up a notch to sixth place in the team standings.

Saudi Hollandi Capital- SHC recovered well from a defeat in the last outing with a decisive 230-80 points victory over SABB Amanah EasyBuy on total pinfalls of 3,613-3,480.

PNB Unified tallied 150 points and 3,426 against the bye team.

SHC got a huge lift from the quartet of Bert Lopez 774, Efren Castro 752, Greg Antonio 734 and Gerry Ayonon. Rodel Yap and Clem Salazar rounded out the SHC scoring at 444 and 179.

Bank Albilad used six players in the rotation, led by the duo of Arnel Bernabe 738 and skipper Edwin Nunez 729. Fahad Al Heza 729 tossed in 725, Ronald Cruz 707, Rene Tanglao 542 and Roland Garcia 169.

Without any major threat so far to its top ranking BSF had been opting to play conservative bowling and getting just enough points to keep its pursuers at bay. Tony Bonifacio led the BSF charge with 745 points with Yusof Fernandez on 663, Jess Bersamin on 536 and Jun Bantug on 506. Sony Alviso and Ben Torrefiel led PNB Unified with 752 and 720.
