RIYADH: A Saudi showed dogged persistence in trying to find his pedigreed pet that had been stolen from his home. Once informed by his housemaid that the top breed, which he had brought along from the United States, had gone missing, Muhammad, the Saudi owner, hit upon a novel method to search for his pet. According to an Arabic newspaper, Muhammad flew into immediate action by printing out 3,000 flyers and distributed them in Riyadh. The flyers also promised a reward of $2,000 to anyone who finds the pet or has any information that could lead to the recovery of the dog. The flyer, a novelty in itself in the Kingdom, carried the picture of the dog under the title “MISSING”. Muhammad said his efforts stirred conflicting emotions. “Old women sympathized with me and some of them sent their drivers out to look for the dog while some men criticized me and were sarcastic about my search,” he said. Many people said they had not seen anything like this except in American movies where mostly children print out posters to search for their lost pets. In reel life the search is mostly successful. Hopefully Muhammad’s efforts in real life too ends on a happy note.
