GAZA CITY: Four Palestinian farmers were wounded yesterday when Israeli troops accompanied with bulldozers entered east of Khan Younis city in the Gaza Strip and clashed with local fighters who tried to impede the progress of the Israeli troops inside the territories, witnesses and medical sources said.
Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas movement, said in a statement that their fighters fired at and hit an Israeli soldier while he was on top of a military vehicle advancing into the area. Israeli military sources denied there was any shooting, saying troops detonated two explosive devices on the Gaza side of a border fence.
Israeli troops also entered Gaza near the Erez crossing in the northern Gaza Strip, where Palestinian fighters from National Resistance Brigades, the military wing of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine clashed with them.
