RAMALLAH: The Israeli Central District Prosecutor’s Office filed charges of illicit sexual relations against an Israeli high school teacher suspected of having sex with one of her 17-year-old students.
The Israeli Ynet news said that the prosecution further filed charges against the woman’s husband, for intimidation and obstruction of justice. The prosecution also asked the court to rescind the woman’s teaching license.
According to the indictment, filed with the Rehovot Magistrate’s Court on Monday, the teacher and her student became involved after she took an interest in his studies.
The bond formed soon became intimate, and the two allegedly began meeting in a secluded place in one of cooperative settlements on the outskirts of Rehovot city, or in a nearby guesthouse.
Other sexual encounters, said the prosecution, took place at the beach, the teacher’s offices and at another student’s house.
The report said that the other student, made privy to the relationship, apparently videoed the two using her cell-phone camera. Once rumors about the affair began circulating, both students were invited to the teacher’s house, where she and her husband instructed them to deny the rumors.
The husband then instructed the boy’s friend to erase the videos from her cell phone. When he later learned she did not deny the rumors suggesting his wife and the boy were having an affair, he threatened the girl.
The Central District Prosecution claims to have a solid case against the teacher.
Attorney Yael Azmon told the court the prosecution intends to enter into evidence detailed affidavits by both students, tapes of confrontations between the parties and several testimonies by other students who saw the cell-phone video.
