RIYADH: Bank Albilad took advantage against the bye team, bowling pressure-free on the way to its breakthrough Team of the Week victory during the 19th session in the Interbank Bowling League 2008 Conference at the InterCon Bowling Center here.

Captained by Edwin Nuñez, Bank Albilad produced the top totals of 290 points and 3,658.

The win leaves SABB Visa/MasterCard as the only outfit in the nine-team field to not clinch Team of the Week honors as the tournament enters the homestretch.

Saudi Hollandi Capital-SHC drew bottom team Visa/MasterCard for the 19th week but unlike Albilad it failed to exploit the situation and had to settle for the second best tally of 280 points and 3,415 pinfalls.

Meantime, BSF continued to practically lap the field and, barring a major disaster, looked set to win the championship crown in the competition sponsored by participating banks in cooperation with their respective team captains.

BSF added 210 points and 3,574 pinfalls to its ballooning tally after beating SABB Amanah EasyBuy which pooled 180 points and 3,448 pinfalls.

In the other matches, second-ranked ANB-SAMA defeated SAIB 240-80 points (3,638-3,507) and SABB Takaful drew with PNB Unified 210-210 (3,635-3,573).

Eden Bergonio of SABB Takaful was named Bowler of the Week as he shot the high series of 819 on lines of 183, 190, 179, 207 and 60 handicap.

Rene Tanglao led Albilad’s six-man offensive with 803 on games of 172, 162, 201 and 182. Nuñez was the second most productive on the night with 786 followed by Arnel Bernabe with 736. Fahad Al Heza contributed 644, Ronald Cruz added 536 and Roy Rosario made 153.

SHC likewise had the luxury of fielding seven players, led by Clem Salazar with 723. Gerry Ayonon at 667 and Bert Lopez at 662 were the only other players to do full games at 667 and 662. Rodel Yap tallied 551, Greg Antonio 525, Gil Hembra 146 and John Warain 141.

ANB-SAMA, the winningest team with five Team of the Week victories under its belt so far, got a big lift from the trio of Clem Guelas 805, Jhun Macarandan 766 and Teody Zulaybar 758.

The leading scorers at PNB Unified were the duo of Jun Evangelista 801 and Mixi Lechuga 728, while the main men at Takaful were, in addition to Bergonio, Luis Bonguit 751 and Nelson Complido 693.

Team standings after the 19th week:

1. BSF 4,762 points 2. ANB-SAMA 4,123 3. Saudi Hollandi Capital-SHC 3,990 4. PNB Unified 3,920 5.SABB Takaful 3,825 6. Bank Albilad 3,602 7. SAIB 3,430 8. SABB Amanah EasyBuy 2,963 9. SABB Visa/MasterCard 100.
