JEDDAH: To honor its golden oldie, Habib Khan, the Jeddah Cricket League will stage another social match between JCL Oldies and the JCL Executive Committee at the JCL Complex at north Obhur today.

This is a great chance for the JCL veterans to sharpen their blades and get the golden arms of bowling warmed up for a grand showdown in the middle and to prove for the umpteenth time that “old is gold”, said Shahid Amin, president of JCL.

The match will start at 2 p.m. and Javed Khan has been appointed as the coordinator.

In keeping with tradition, the match will be followed by a refreshment for the participants and guests. The family and close friends of the JCL club members are all invited to join the fun.

The JCL Oldies will be led by none other than Habib Khan, who has been associated with the organization since its inception in 1976. He represented Shalimar Cricket Club and it was a delight to watch him in the field of cricket in his heyday. Having played with JCL in most of the intercity matches, Habib was an automatic choice.

JCL cherishes the memories of his unblemished record. He always played a major role in winning the matches for JCL as one of the best all-rounders. Kingdom cricket had witnessed a bulky man of more than 110 kgs rated as one of the best athletes in a power-packed structure.

JCL is proud to have such players in its ranks.
