RIYADH: The Riyadh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) and the Embassy of India jointly organized India Catex 2008, a multisector catalog exhibition, at the chamber premises yesterday.
The exhibition showcased catalogs, CDs and other publicity material on Indian companies from various sectors including air conditioning, animal and poultry, agriculture and food, automotive, chemicals and fertilizers, coil products, cosmetics and electrical, electronics as well as engineering goods.
The catalogs also showcased fasteners, fire and safety, gift items, home appliances, hospitality, construction and construction equipment, turn-key projects, IT and telecommunications, medical and pharmaceuticals, leather goods, machinery and equipment, metal and metal products, packaging, plastic, sanitary wares, public address system, textiles and garments, water and waste management and wood and furniture.
The exhibition attracted a large number of Saudi businessmen and generated a number of queries on various products and services, according to a press release issued by the Indian embassy.
India is fifth largest trading partner for Saudi Arabia. The bilateral trade during 2007-08 was $16.5 billion. Saudi Arabia is the 12th largest market in the world for Indian exports and is destination for more than 2.05 percent of India’s global exports. On the other hand, Saudi Arabia is the source of 7.21 percent of India’s global imports, excluding oil.
For Saudi Arabia, India is the fifth largest market for its exports, accounting for six percent of its global exports. In terms of imports by Saudi Arabia, India ranks ninth and is the source of around 3.77 percent of Saudi Arabia’s total imports.
