NO one will give you the answer to why we love predictions, at least not the answer you want. Why do we keep reading all those nonsense predictions every year although we know they are far from real?
I ask the same question at the end of every year and I never get a satisfactory answer. Until today, out of the blue, a distant cousin of mine who lives in Switzerland answered me. His words were shocking.
According to him, we are looking for answers in the mystic world to pacify our gnawing pain and fear of the unknown. It is an addiction no more no less, just like any addiction, and we are hooked on it.
An addiction! No more no less, and he was right. And like any addiction we cannot stop craving and yearning pathetically for the medicine even when we know that it is empty and barren.
Dear Nadia,
I heard from a friend of mine that falconry is banned in Saudi Arabia. Is this true?
— Joseph, Dammam
Dear Joseph,
First of all falconry is far older than Saudi Arabia and it is certainly not banned in the country. There are, however, seasons when hunting with falcons is allowed. It is certainly not the falcons who disturb nature but rather the four-wheel-drive vehicles used today in place of the traditional horses and camels.
