KOZHIKODE: The 31st anniversary celebrations of the Markazu Ssaquafathi Ssunniyya (MSS), a leading Islamic educational and religious institution in Kerala, began here yesterday with an impressive procession.
The three-day event also marks the 14th Convocation of MSS and a variety of informative and religious sessions, including spiritual con-ference, Diaspora meet and cul-tural seminar.
Overseas Indian Affairs Minister Vayalar Ravi will inaugurate the Diaspora meet, Chairman of the National Commission for Minorities Justice Suhail Siddiqui, the anni-versary celebrations while Kerala Industry Minister Elamaram Kareem will inaugurate the institu-tion’s delegate meet to be presided over by Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishan. Forest Minister Benoy Viswam will open the cultural meet to be attended by renowned histo-rian Dr MGS Narayanan, Professor Hussain Randathani, Kozhikode Zomorin PKS Raja, Professor Adiraja Muhammad Koyamma, for-mer minister E.T. Mohammed Basheer and others.
A mass congregation of tens of thousands of people will mark the culmination of the meet. The Markaz founder Kanthapuram AP Aboobacker Musliyar will deliver the convocation address. Foreign delegates, who confirmed partici-pation include scholars from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, South Africa, UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait, Australia, South Africa and Malaysia. MSS, which has so far provided free education and boarding to about 30,000 students, is currently hosting more than 10,000 students.
