SANAA: Unidentified attackers blew up yesterday the main oil pipeline that carries crude oil from the northcentral Yemeni province of Ma’arib to a Red Sea port. Export operations were, however, not disrupted, security sources said.

The sources told Arab News that an investigation into the attack was under way to find out whether tribesmen or militants were involved in the bombing that occurred in the Arqain Valley area, 30 km from the Safir oilfield.

They said a technical team was assessing the damage to the pipeline that carries around 155,000 barrels of crude oil per day from Safir, 240 km north east of Sanaa, to the exporting terminal of Rass Essa in Houdieda province.
