PUNE: The Gujarat state Chief Minister Narendra Modi, the man accused of being the architect of 2002 Gujarat pogrom, said that he believed in only one definition of secularism — India First.

“There are numerous theories floating around. I too have my own definition of secularism — India First. Any policy, decision or act that is taken in the best interests of the country is secularism for me. Any other definition is meaningless,” he said while speaking at a function to release the Marathi translation of his book “Jyotipunj” here on Sunday night.

The book translated by senior journalist Ravindra Dani, is a compilation of 16 sketches of Rashtriya Swayemsevak Sangh leaders. Modi during his speech boasted of attracting investment of a huge sum of money in just two days time.

According to his formula in his own words “The method calls for ensuring low ‘risks’ in transactions , high ‘alertness’ to repel any adverse situation in time , low ‘cost’ to ensure less expenditure on overheads and high ‘efficiency’ in the every day dealings of the government.”

Instead of fearing the might of recession that has gripped the world, India can not only turn the adversity into opportunity, but also race ahead of the world in beating the recession blues, Modi said.

“While the world is gripped in the fear caused by recession, India can use the situation as its greatest opportunity to become world leader by beating the recession blues using my race formula. The method calls for ensuring low ‘risks’ in transactions, high ‘alertness’ to repel any adverse situation in time, low ‘cost’ to ensure less expenditure on overheads and high ‘efficiency’ in the everyday dealings of the government,” Modi said.

“The race formula I have followed in my state has met with great success. In the Global Investors Summit held in Gujarat between Jan. 12-13 this year, 40 countries participated along with 100 delegates.
