JEDDAH: Monday night, Al-Ittihad defeated Wehdah on its home court in Makkah 80 -60.
Week six saw Ittihad lose the top spot in the Saudi Basketball Federation League. Medina’s Ohud handed Ittihad its first loss of the season 90-71. Ittihad’s Ali Magrabi was out with an injury.
Ansar moved into first place with a 93-90 win over Ahli. In a battle of top teams Ittihad defeated Ansar 86-67 with Magrabi back in the lineup.
Hilal moved up with wins over Safa and Khaleej. In week 7 Ansar beat Khaleej and Safa on Thursday and Friday and popped up to No. 1 on points. Ittihad had to wait until its win on Monday to take over again.
Wehdah won three out of its last four games and moved into fifth place on points. This week No. 1 Ittihad faces No. 3 Hilal, and No. 4 Ohud goes against fifth-ranked Wehdah.
