RIYADH: An employee of the payroll department at the Ministry of Health was arrested for allegedly swindling SR1.2 million from the ministry’s accounts.
Auditors said they discovered the amount missing during a routine check.
After checking all the activities related to money transfer in January, the auditors reportedly tracked the missing amount to the account of an employee at the entitlement section.
The employee allegedly obtained the secret code to enter the pay account from a colleague and then transferred the money to his own account in two installments, the investigators said.
The employee has been sacked from his position and an investigation is ongoing.
