JEDDAH: Ahmad Rajab, a Saudi youth studying in the United States, is marrying a girl from Madinah. The difference is that the marriage formalities are going to take place online. The bridegroom could not be beside the bride at the wedding reception in Jeddah because he is now in Virginia working on his degree in business administration at Marymount University, Al-Madinah daily reported yesterday. He could not travel to Saudi Arabia because he feared that he would not be able to get a return visa. The marriage clerk said he would register the marriage if only the bridegroom supplied an authorization document in favor of Ahmad’s brother attested by the Saudi Embassy in Washington. He should also produce medical fitness certificate attested by the embassy and endorsed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and a Shariah court.
