JEDDAH: Host club Al-Ahli hammered out a 19-15 victory over Al-Najma of Bahrain for its second straight victory in Group C yesterday in the Asian Handball Club Championship 2009 at the General Presidency of Youth Welfare sport hall here.
The win followed Ahli’s 28-26 conquest of tough Al-Saad of Lebanon on Thursday.
In a marathon Group B match, Al-Ahli of Qatar defeated Al-Sadaqa of Lebanon 34-33. Al-Fehaheel of Kuwait defeated Al-Salt of Jordan 26-24 in a Group D tussle.
In Group C, Al-Sadd of Lebanon takes on Al-Karkh of Iraq. Sadaqa tries to rebound from its loss to the Qataris when it faces Foolaz Moobarkaa of Iran in Group B.
In the last match of the day, Al-Sadd of Qatar brought down Iraq’s Al-Jaish 33-20.
The group eliminations continue today with four matches.
The other Saudi club in the competition, Al-Noor, battles Al-Fehaheel of Kuwait in Group D, while Al-Qadisia of Kuwait goes against Al-Jaish of Iraq in Group A.
