DAMMAM: The 12th Gardens and Plants Exhibition will be held at the beach of the Arabian Gulf in the Jubail Industrial City from March 10 to 20.
The Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu has completed all arrangements for the annual event during which thousands of flowers and shrubs will be planted.
Director of roads and forestation, Muhammad Abu Saie Al-Shihri, who is the chairman of the organizing committee, said the exhibition would include various activities consisting of cultural and awareness programs as well as special programs for the mother and child. He said there would also be entertainment programs for visitors.
“The exhibition will depict the new irrigation systems which help reduce the consumption of water,” Al-Shihri said.
The exhibition, which is being held for the 12th consecutive year, is aimed at enlightening visitors about the importance of preserving the safety of environment and the effect of beauty of flowers and plants on the lives of people. It will also show them the latest production tools concerning agriculture.
“The exhibition is an attempt to upgrade the aesthetic feeling of people and to encourage them to grow flowers and plants for the decoration of their surrounding,” Al-Shihri said. He explained that the exhibition would show the visitors the different kinds of flowers and plants, the types, which are suitable to the environment and the ways to preserve them.
“We will acquaint the visitors with the most modern agricultural equipment, the tools necessary for gardening and ways and means of having an ideal, beautiful and healthy house garden,” he said.
Al-Shihri believes that the exhibition will further boost tourism in the city and will encourage the residents to give more attention and care to their gardens and to the public parks.
“We are keen to increase the green area in the city and to promote the aesthetic taste of both the citizens and expatriates,” he said.
The exhibition usually attracts many visitors from the city and the surrounding areas.
