Mobily offers new service

RIYADH: Mobily’s prepaid and postpaid subscribers can enjoy a new, free service called “How are you?” “The aptly named service enables subscribers to check on their loved ones, in the Kingdom and abroad, with a maximum of three free SMS messages daily,” the company said yesterday.

Abu Dhabi sets up new firm

ABU DHABI: Abu Dhabi has set up a state-controlled petrochemicals firm with capital of 500 million dirhams ($136.1 million) to build the world’s largest petrochemicals complex, the official WAM news agency reported.

Shuaa posts massive loss

DUBAI: Dubai-based Shuaa Capital, one of the largest investment banks in the Gulf, posted a loss close to one billion dirhams for the three quarters to December 2008, the bank said yesterday. Shuaa unveiled a loss of 965 million dirhams ($263 million) for the nine months’ period including a loss of 592.7 million dirhams ($161.5 million) for the three months to December, the third quarter of its financial year which runs from April to March.
