Biladi School sports day held

JEDDAH: The Biladi International School held its annual sports day here recently with a variety of competitions.

Robila Jameel, school principal, launched the event and emphasized the need of sports in school life, saying that such type of competitions will not only polish the talent but also provide healthy atmosphere among the students and enhance their qualities.

The event opened with the unfurling of Saudi Arabia’s national flag and playing of the country’s national anthem.

The competitors were divided in four houses namely Yellow, Blue, Red and Green. All the houses were introduced to the chief guest who received a salute from them in a marchpast at a parade ground. All the houses sung the introductory songs.

Competitors from junior to middle grades showed their athletic abilities and received warmth applause from the spectators.

All the houses compete in different events in track and field including one-leg race, hurdles, jumping, relay and lemon race. Yellow House got first position in hopping race, while Red House came in second.

In the reverse race event, Green House took charge and got first position while Yellow House took second place.

Trophies and medals were also awarded to the houses on the basis of best managerial/technical skills. Blue House remained on top while Green House got second and Yellow House third place.

“Win and lose are all part of the game, said Robila, adding “Losers shouldn’t be dishearten as the loss takes them to winning stand.” She appreciated the parents as well teachers for their cooperation in making this event a success. The teachers were also awarded for their work.
