JEDDAH: A new hospital is opening in Jeddah’s central district of Sharafiyyah, which already boasts at least a half dozen hospitals and polyclinics.
“The 250-bed Al-Noor Medical Center, which is set to open on March 13, will have the state-ofthe- art equipment and highly proficient doctors and consultants,” Abdul Salaam, managing director of the medical project, told a press conference yesterday.
Salaam, who managed a hospital in Hail for eight years, said the medical center’s sponsor Dr. Saleh Abdullah Saleh Al-Harbi, a consultant pediatrician at Erfan & Bagedo Hospitals, would offer free consultancy during the initial fortnight “as our gesture to mark the opening.”
The hospital will also offer free treatment to patients referred by the local charity organization, Jamiat Al-Khairiyah. Salaam said the medical center would be operate initially as a polyclinic for outpatients and would provide beds in the emergency room for cases that need observation.
“Subsequently, it will become a hospital with certification by local health authorities,” Salaam said, adding that he was hopeful of transforming the place into a fullfledged hospital soon.
A tour around the medical center showed that all of its 63 rooms are being readied for the hospital venture, which will have a multinational staff of doctors, nurses and technicians for all branches of medicine.
“We have already hired doctors, consultants and the paramedics. We will have consultants for the 10 most important medical specialties. ... We will distinguish ourselves by providing exceptionally good health care at affordable cost,” he said.
“Above all,” Salaam said, “our concern will be to keep the rooms and surroundings infection-free and our staff will maintain hygiene at its peak in all departments.”
The center has already acquired parking space for 150 cars.
