MANAMA: Bahrain has become the fourth country in the region to introduce the Springboard women’s self-development program.
The program empowers women to be confident and encourages their involvement in voluntary work.
“We are the first society in Bahrain to hold this course, which targets all women regardless of their social or education backgrounds,” said Salwa Jaber, member of the Awal Women Society. Twenty-eight members took part in the international program, which lasts for a month. The 36-hour course was divided into four weekly sessions, each tackling one aspect of the program.
The program is being conducted by British Council and was developed by Springboard Consultancy that is one of the UK’s leading training consultancies, specializing in personal and professional development. It is delivered by specially trained and licensed trainers around the world and has won many prestigious awards for quality and innovation.
Jaber said candidates from different backgrounds took part in the training that included workshops, assignments and other skills aimed to train women.
“Bahraini women could learn from international experts on how to improve their outlook and succeed in their fields. If the private and public sector supports us it will definitely improve the morale and productivity of the employees,” said Fatimah Hashim, assistant director of projects.
Some 200,000 women around the world have successfully completed the Springboard self-development program. Many Saudi women have also benefited through the program. The course was modified to suit Saudi customs and standards and was run in Arabic. Over 500, Saudi women have been trained through the course, which is being conducted at different locations in the Kingdom.
