JEDDAH: Police in Jeddah arrested a gang of four Saudi armed robbers who targeted taxi drivers. The four youths would use knives to threaten their victims and steal their cash and cell phones.
Col. Misfer Al-Juaid, spokesman for Jeddah police, said a police team was formed to track the gang following several reports of their activities.
"The gang members are young and have been transferred to a juvenile center. One of the members was sent to a mental hospital, as he showed signs of mental illness," said Al-Juaid.
The gang was arrested in the Al-Kandara district of the city. "The gang would take drivers to remote areas in the old districts of Jeddah. Once isolated they would threaten them with knives and rob them," he added.
