JEDDAH: “The Road Home” is the title of the Chinese feature film screened at the 2nd Asian film festival, organized by the Asian Consuls General Club, on Monday night. The film tells a simple but touching love story.
Zhao Di, a young and beautiful girl with a clever hand and quick mind falls in love with the pristine and humorous young teacher. She is the first girl in the Shiliba village who takes the initiative to choose her lover at her own free will. Her sincerity eventually wins the heart of teacher Luo. They are in love with each other in a traditional yet romantic way. However, at such a happy moment, an unexpected tragedy falls upon them. Luo is categorized as the Rightist for no reason.
Zhao Di, though extremely weak due to illness, tries every means to look for Luo even at the risk of her life. After experiencing twists and turns, Luo settles down in the village school, never leaving the village ever since.
The couple loves each other in the next 40 years, not being separated even by death. “China in Harmony” is a documentary film that preceded the movie.
The documentary reflects on the Chinese people who today are adding new wonders and glory to the beautiful scene of harmony between man and nature, tradition and modernity, and material and spiritual development.
