RIYADH: Modern radiotherapy equipment worth SR50 million was recently installed at the King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center in Riyadh.

Dr. Fahd Al-Abdaljabbar, chairman of the board of directors of KFSHRC, unveiled the equipment — Radiotherapy Treatment Modalities — at the hospital’s oncology center in the presence of many medical professionals.

Al-Abdaljabbar said the new addition to the hospital would benefit both patients as well as training professionals and researchers.

Dr. Mohammed Al-Suwaiyel, president of the King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST), was also present at the function.

The two organizations currently collaborate in cancer research.

Dr. Qasim Al-Qasabi, chief executive officer of KFSHRC, said the new equipment include four state-of-the-art radiation therapy machines, costing SR50 million. “This is the only hospital in the world which has three of these under one roof,” said Al-Qasabi.
