MAKKAH: Municipal inspectors seized 15 bottles of a deadly agricultural pesticide containing aluminum phosphide in a shop in Makkah yesterday, Abdul Salam Mushat, undersecretary at the Makkah mayor’s office, said in a statement.
The municipality has issued strict orders to stop unauthorized pesticide sales and seize pesticides stocked in commercial outlets in the city following the death of a number of people in Jeddah over the past few months as a result of improper use of pesticides in homes.
Some people in Makkah have complained to Arab News that several shops were selling these pesticides without properly warning customers about the dangers.
