JEDDAH: Police arrested three youths, two Saudis and a Palestinian, in relation to a spate of bag snatching crimes in Jeddah.

The two Saudis, who are brothers, and their Palestinian accomplice, are accused of snatching handbags from around 10 women pedestrians, police said yesterday.

“They drove for hours targeting people. One of the brothers drove the car while the other, seated in the passenger seat, would stretch his body out of the window and snatch the handbags,” said police spokesman Col. Misfar Al-Juaid.

He added that the Palestinian who worked at a cell phone shop on Hera Street would in turn sell the stolen items. “We received a large number of complaints from women pedestrians who were targeted in north Jeddah’s Al-Safa, Al-Salama and Al-Shamalia areas,” said Al-Juaid. “Descriptions provided by the women helped us in making the arrests,” he added.
