I wish to extend my sincere felicitations to my fellow countrymen on the auspicious occasion of Pakistan National Day.

March 23 reminds us of the commitment and resolution of the Muslims of the subcontinent that they expressed for a separate homeland where they could live freely in accordance with their faith; and within a short span of seven years, Pakistan emerged as the largest independent Muslim country.

March 23 refreshes our memories of the heroic struggle of the Muslims of the subcontinent under the dynamic leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah as also of the sacrifices they made for the creation of our beloved country.

Pakistan is today a country moving on the path of progress, democracy, rule of law and judicial tolerance. The country stands firm with sincerity among the comity of nations and has played a key role for the progress of the Muslim Ummah. Pakistanis have also demonstrated at different fora the courage, fortitude and resolve to meet all the challenges of our time.

Pakistan as a peace-loving country has taken a number of initiatives to amicably resolve all disputes including Kashmir. The world community is realizing that a just and peaceful solution to the Kashmir dispute in line with the UN resolutions guaranteeing the right to self-determination to the Kashmiris is extremely important for the cause of peace and prosperity in the region.

I request my brothers in the Kingdom to strengthen the brotherly relations with Saudi Arabia through the dint of hard work, commitment and obedience of the Saudi laws which is one of the time-tested friends of our beloved country.

Let us resolve that we should keep the interests of our country high and foremost and work together for making Pakistan a dynamic, prosperous, tolerant and true Islamic state.
