ON the occasion of the 188th anniversary of the Greek Independence revolution, which led to the foundation of the modern Greek state, I would like to extend to all my compatriots who live and work in the western region of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia my warm congratulations on this historic day.

The friendship between Saudi Arabia and Greece is longstanding and the bond between the two peoples is strong. Bilateral relations lay on solid foundations and the framework of cooperation extends to a series of agreements, covering different aspects of political and economic relations.

The Consulate General of Greece will continue to work in order to further promote cooperation between the two countries and encourage direct contact among Saudis and Greeks through tourism, trade and business missions, as well as through the culture and the exchange of visits that forge ties, friendship and understanding.

It is my firm belief that there is always room for expanding economic relations and investment between Saudi Arabia and Greece, not only because of the positive experience from previous decades and the significant contribution of Greek businessmen and companies to the development of the hospitable city of Jeddah, but also because of the increasing importance of both countries in the broader Mediterranean-Middle East region and in the fast changing global economic environment.

Saudis and Greeks know how to work together. I am confident the future will provide us many additional opportunities to strengthen our ties and our long friendly relations.
