RIYADH: Mobily on Tuesday launched the latest BlackBerry phone, the Curve 8900. “Sporting elegant, modern design, comfortable dimensions and a long-lasting battery, the Curve 8900 can be bought for a competitive price of SR2,299,” the company said in a statement.
The new phone features a 3.2-megapixel camera with digital zoom, GPS support, as well as WiFi and Bluetooth capabilities. Owners can also use BlackBerry’s own instant messaging feature or any other instant messaging client, such as MSN Messenger, Yahoo Messenger or Google Talk.
“Of course, as usual, they can send and receive e-mails through Mobily’s BlackBerry Individual Service,” the company said, adding that the service enables individuals who do not have subscriptions to corporate servers to send and receive e-mails. Subscribers can also access their personal and corporate e-mails regardless of the type of account, and without any need for dedicated technical support. They can install as many as 10 e-mail accounts, as well as an 11th free BlackBerry account, whether they are business or personal e-mails.
“The BlackBerry Individual Service is compatible with most e-mail clients, using push technology to deliver e-mails in real time to the BlackBerry device and without the need to actually open the e-mail account and download messages to read them,” the statement said.
In addition to all of these features, Mobily’s subscribers can use their BlackBerry services while roaming internationally. Fees are calculated according to international roaming tariffs. In case a heavy user exceeds 20 megabytes of data, they will be billed for the extra usage as two halalas per kilobyte. Simple Internet browsing is not counted as part of those 20 megabytes.
“Mobily has made it utterly simple to subscribe to the service. All the user has to do is send an SMS containing the code “BIS N” to 1100,” the statement added.
