RIYADH: The Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice has arrested a Saudi man who is accused of blackmailing and raping a young woman and her brother for over eight years in Riyadh, Al-Yaum newspaper reported. The commission made the arrest after the woman reported that the man, a neighbor, had been raping her and her brother. She also reported that the man had taken sexually explicit photographs of them and used them to blackmail them to keep the abuse a secret.

The woman reported the abuse after her mental health deteriorated. She said that the man had forced her brother to become a drug addict.

Following the report, commission members began monitoring the man’s home. He was approached after being seen attempting to sneak into the siblings’ home from the backdoor. When the man saw the commission member, he panicked, threw away his mobile phone and fled. Commission members, however, managed to arrest him and retrieve the mobile phone.

Commission members said the man was drunk and that they found pornography, the young woman’s number and threatening text messages in the man’s mobile phone. The brother told commission members that the man lured him to his house several years ago by pretending to be nice to him. He then raped him, took naked pictures of him and threatened to publicize the photographs if he did not bring his sister to him. Commission members also found over 4,000 photographs of the woman in the man’s possession. The case has been transferred to the General Prosecution and Investigation Board for further investigation.
