JEDDAH: All-around development is the essence of the future developmental strategy presented by Jeddah Mayor Adil Fakeeh at a meeting of the Jeddah Municipal Council on Saturday. The meeting presided over by Tariq Ali Fadaq, chairman of the council, discussed various aspects of the draft strategy after its presentation.
Fakeeh said the developmental plan and strategy covered urban development, land utilization, local economy, environment, social and cultural services, heritage, tourism, transport, infrastructure and the management of picnic centers including sea fronts and public spaces, housing and the development of undeveloped and unplanned neighborhood offices. He added that the plan would be offered for public discussion and comment in the coming months.
"The draft strategy envisages a great leap forward for the municipality. A special feature of the strategy is that the work will continue uninterrupted even if individuals and administrations change," Fadaq told Arab News after the meeting. The council members, however, are of the opinion that the implementation of the strategy will require some time.
