RIYADH: The vice principal of Bangladesh International School (English Section) in Riyadh, Richard Mervyn Brown, died in his sleep yesterday.
Brown, 51, was found dead in his room when his colleagues went to collect him for work in the morning. Brown, who is from South Africa, had been teaching at the school for nine years.
According to a medical report, Brown suffered a fatal heart attack in his sleep. Sources at the school said he had been taking medicines for heart disease.
“I have lost my right hand,” School Principal Mohamed Shaheed Hussain told Arab News.
Hussain recalled that Brown had been a tower of strength for the school.
The school will be closed today as a mark of respect. Sheikh Salimullah, chairman of the school’s management board, said the school will hold a special assembly tomorrow to highlight Brown’s contribution to the school’s development.
Brown is survived by his wife and three daughters who live in Johannesburg. His body will be flown to South Africa.
