JEDDAH: Obtaining integrated health services at home, including examination, treatment and followup, will be offered by the newly established Salam Home Health Care, a private sector venture.
“This is the first company of its kind in Saudi Arabia,” said Taymour Ismail, the company’s chief executive officer.
“Serving patients inside their homes falls within the inclinations of the Health Ministry, which has approved the home health care as a national strategy,” he said.
Ismail said the home health care services will alleviate the pressures on hospitals and added that many countries in the world, including the US, have been using this service parallel to hospitals, health centers and clinics.
According to Ismail, field studies conducted on this service showed that the home health care save more than 60 percent of the cost of treatment at hospitals especially for patients with chronic illnesses that need continuous care.
Ismail said during the first phase, the project will focus on large cities like Jeddah, Riyadh, Dammam, Makkah and Madinah and later expand to smaller towns and cities. “We will work side by side with hospitals in the Kingdom as we complement each other,” he said, explaining that the project will start in Jeddah as the company has already signed an agreement with Dr. Soliman Fakeeh Hospital.
