JEDDAH: About 80 percent of cancers can be cured now through proper diagnosis and treatment, says Dr. Muhammad Aslam, head of hemato-oncology and BMT department at King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Center in Jeddah. "Treatment in early stages is essential for quick recovery," he said while opening a health seminar organized by Farook College Old Students Association (FOSA) at Impala Restaurant Auditorium here recently.
He stressed the importance of conducting proper investigation of the disease by patients visiting well-equipped cancer centers. "Efforts should be made to supply medicines required by cancer patients at affordable rates," he said. He praised FOSA for organizing the program to enhance public health awareness.
Mohammed Alungal, CEO of Al-Abeer Medical Group and the main sponsor of the seminar, commended FOSA's activities and pledged his support to its educational programs. He highlighted the role being played by Farook College in the development of Muslim community in the Malabar area. "This seminar is timely as it comes when the world is hit by a swine flu pandemic," he said.
