KOCHI: A Kerala court has convicted Santosh Madhavan alias Swami Amrita Chaitanya, the self-styled guru accused of swindling money of devotees, of raping two minor girls.

The Ernakulam Additional Sessions Court, which exonerated Madhavan’s driver C.K. Thomas of all charges and set him free, is scheduled to pronounce the sentence today.

Police arrested Madhavan on May 18 last year on charges including cheating his devotees of money and raping four minor girls and a woman. Three of the victims retracted their statements against the self-professed guru, leaving only one minor.

The complaints of rape and sexual exploitation emerged after a police raid on his “ashram” from where a large number of porno films were recovered and the arrest that followed at his hide-out.
