MANAMA: Saudi Ambassador in Manama Abdulmohsen Fahd Almarek yesterday held talks with Bahrain's Minister of Finance Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Khalifa on ways of strengthening cooperation between the two GCC neighbors.
During the meeting, Sheikh Ahmed underscored the strong relations between the two countries. Almarek thanked the minister for his warm welcome and voiced his embassy's desire to boost bilateral ties.
Almarek was appointed Saudi ambassador to Bahrain recently. He met Sheikh Ahmed to familiarize himself with the country's top officials and improve relations between the two countries. He earlier met Bahrain's Minister of Justice and Islamic Affairs Sheikh Khaled bin Ali Al-Khalifa in Manama.
Almarek, who obtained his master's and doctoral degrees in international management and relations from US universities, began his career at the Foreign Ministry in 1973. He worked as first secretary at the Saudi Embassy in Washington from 1977 to 1983. He was appointed director general of the Department of Diplomacy and Protocol at the ministry in 1991.
